Each Uncoated Tablet Contains:
Desogestrel BP 0.15 mg
Ethinylestradiol IP 0.02 mg

This composition contains desogestrel and ethinylestradiol which is mainly used as contraceptive in the prevention of pregnancy.
It prevents the development of women’s egg during every month.

About Composition

Desogestrel:

Desogestrel is a progesterone. It belongs to the third-generation progesterone. It is used in the treatment menopausal symptoms in women. it is useful in the treatment of birth control pills.

Ethinylestradiol:

Ethinylestradiol causes modification of luteinising hormone and follicle stimulating hormone It decreases onset of menstruation and increases the viscosity of vaginal fluids. It increases the insulin secretion and insulin resistance.

Mechanism of Action

Desogestrel binds to the progesterone receptors and causes modifications in the mRNA synthesis.
Ethinyloestradiol also inhibits gonadotropin releasing hormone and decreases the thickening of the cervical mucus to prevent the travel of sperms.

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in people with hypertension
• Contraindicated in kidney disease

Drug Interactions

• Ritonavir
• Tranexamic acid
